Make a WebP from your photo
- Choose or drop a JPG or JPEG.
- Start with Balanced, or choose smaller file or higher quality.
- Convert and compare the original with the encoded WebP. Check the file sizes before downloading.
Choose the tradeoff that suits your image
WebP can reduce photo file sizes, but savings are not guaranteed. Lower quality loses more detail. Even quality 100 is lossy, and conversion cannot restore details already lost in the JPG. Original dimensions are retained, with EXIF orientation applied. Try the actual download in its intended app before replacing your original.
Local processing and limits
Your image stays in browser memory. No upload or saved draft. Use one JPG up to 10 MiB, 12 million pixels and 4,096 pixels per side. Metadata is removed on export. Browser color management and encoding can vary. A browser without WebP encoding receives an explicit error; a PNG fallback is never labeled as WebP.
Cancel processing preserves available work and discards late results. Undo changes restores the source, quality, comparison and download after edits or Clear; successful conversion or accepted replacement ends recovery. Native work may finish in the background, with 30-second wait deadlines. Invalid replacement files preserve your existing image and ready download.
