Practice Tamil in focused steps
- Start with vowels, then consonants with pulli. Include the spaces between examples.
- Practice க with vowel signs, short words, everyday sentences and two short paragraphs. Every passage is original practice text.
- Check accuracy, select a mismatch to correct the whole character, then check again. Try this lesson again clears only your typing; Reset all returns to vowels.
Use your Tamil input method
Select a Unicode Tamil keyboard or input method on your device before typing. This page accepts the text it produces; it does not map English keys, transliterate text or convert legacy fonts. You can use your preferred layout. When an input method is composing a character, finish that selection before checking accuracy. The passage guide waits for the completed composition.
Whole characters and completion
A Tamil base with a vowel sign or pulli can form one native grapheme cluster. The review selects that whole cluster, including attached marks, so a correction does not split it. Canonically equivalent Unicode sequences match without rewriting your original text. Native browser Unicode data and input methods can vary.
A correct prefix can show 100% accuracy while unfinished. The completion message and remaining-character count show what is left. Next lesson becomes available after a complete, correct review; the lesson selector is always available. Accuracy is matching clusters divided by typed clusters. Spaces, punctuation and line breaks matter. Insertions and deletions shift later positions; this tool does not realign text or judge grammar. Deleted mistakes are absent from final-text accuracy.
Private, untimed practice
No timer, WPM, uploads, account or saved practice history. This is final-text review rather than a keyboard examination. Paste is allowed. Changing lessons clears your typing and old results; editing invalidates exports until checked again. Invalid input stays available for correction. The vowel-mismatch example uses a Latin x to illustrate a wrong position.
Use a current browser with native Unicode segmentation. Limits are 5,000 graphemes and 20,000 UTF-16 units, with at most 256 units per grapheme. The review displays 20 mismatches at a time; JSON includes every mismatch, the reference and typed text. Typed TXT preserves the field value, subject to browser newline normalization. Clipboard is optional. Untimed reviews have no speed and cannot be imported as speed records.
