Practice your typing
Choose English or Tamil and a maximum duration, then start.
Type the passage shown directly above the input. The highlighted character is next; underlined characters show mismatches. Open the full reference if useful. The timer starts after the first committed input; provisional IME text is not scored.
Finish now, complete the reference exactly, or wait for the deadline. Download results if useful, then reset for another attempt.
How scores are calculated
One normalized word is five grapheme clusters, including spaces, punctuation and newlines. Gross WPM is final typed clusters ÷ 5 ÷ elapsed minutes. Correct-position WPM uses only clusters matching the reference at the same position. Final-text accuracy is correct clusters ÷ typed clusters × 100. A missing reference suffix is unfinished work, not a typed error; extra text counts as errors. No input means no accuracy, and zero elapsed time means no WPM. Display rounds to one decimal; JSON retains calculation values.
Deleted mistakes are absent from final-text accuracy, though correcting them takes time. This is not keystroke accuracy or an official examination score. Tamil signs and emoji are grouped using native Intl.Segmenter. Canonically equivalent NFC cluster values match; source text stays unchanged. Browser Unicode data, IMEs and languages differ, so scores are not directly comparable to every site or physical-keystroke measurement. Five-character WPM reference.
Privacy, timing and limits
Native local processing, no uploads, accounts or automatic progress storage. JSON includes your exact typed text and the reference; keep downloaded files private. Download or copy a readable summary without your input, or download typed TXT to retain what you wrote. Input is limited to 20,000 UTF-16 units and 5,000 grapheme clusters. No arbitrary code or HTML is executed.
Elapsed-time deadlines use the browser’s monotonic clock, not a count of timer callbacks. Input arriving at or after the deadline is excluded; the last committed text is retained. Switching to a hidden tab discards an active attempt. Provisional composition is excluded if time ends before it commits. Device sleep and browser timing differences can affect practice; restart after interruption. Pasting/drop invalidates scores and leaves text available for unscored review, but this is not cheat-proof proctoring. Settings changes/reset discard stale results. A browser with Unicode segmentation is required.
