Instagram image resizer

Resize without stretching your photo

Keep whole photo places every source pixel inside the selected canvas, with a background wherever the shapes differ. Fill canvas crops edges to cover it. Both preserve proportions. Drag to position your subject and compare the actual export before downloading.

Portrait 4:5, tall portrait 3:4, square, landscape and vertical 9:16 are explicit canvas presets. A Story canvas exports a still image, not a Reel or video. Profile grids, feed displays and third-party schedulers may crop differently. Review the upload preview in the app you use.

About platform sizes

These presets define the files this tool produces; they do not guarantee placement eligibility or prevent Instagram recompression. Refer to Instagram’s photo-resolution guidance for current platform behavior. Its help page could not be independently retrieved during this tool’s 12 October 2026 review, so no current maximum or universal safe area is claimed.

Local processing and recoverable editing

PNG/JPG inputs up to 10 MiB and 12 million pixels are decoded locally with browser EXIF orientation. Animated PNG becomes a still frame. Output is opaque: transparent source areas use your background color. Source metadata is removed. Upscaling is identified in the preview because larger dimensions cannot restore missing detail.

Undo and Redo keep up to 20 framing states. Reset framing retains your photo; a successful replacement starts a new framing history, while a failed replacement preserves the photo and settings. Clear image releases it from memory and cannot restore it. Nothing is uploaded or automatically saved. Native decoding or encoding may finish after cancellation; obsolete results are discarded. Operations have a 30-second deadline.
