QR code generator

Turn a link or text into a static QR code, choose readable colours, and download a crisp PNG or scalable SVG, free.

Processed on your device

Use the complete HTTP or HTTPS address. Accepted content is encoded exactly as entered.

0 / 1,500 UTF-8 bytes

Size and error correction

Higher correction makes dense content harder to fit. Keep the light border; this tool requires at least four PNG pixels per QR module to keep dense codes clear. SVG scales for printing.

Colours and contrast

Choose dark QR squares on a light, opaque background. The background also fills the four-module border.

QR code preview

Your QR code appears here after generation.

One link. Ready to scan.

Use this tool for a website, a printed handout, or a short text message. No signup is needed, and the generator does not send your content to a server.

How to make your QR code

  1. Select Website URL or Plain text and enter your content.
  2. Choose a PNG size and correction level, then generate the code.
  3. Download PNG for screens or SVG for print. Test it with a phone before sharing.

A worked example

Enter https://example.com in Website URL mode. A scan opens that address. The generator shows the exact encoded content beside the preview and preserves accepted content exactly; it does not shorten or redirect your link.

Limitations and privacy

Static codes cannot change their destination after printing and do not include scan analytics. The code itself does not expire, but its linked website can. Avoid including private information: anyone who scans the code can read its contents. Keep the light border intact and test at your intended print size.

Correction percentages describe approximate recovery of damaged codewords, not a guarantee that a percentage of the image can be covered. This tool supports URL and plain text with opaque, solid colours. Use the Wi-Fi QR generator for network credentials. Use the contact-card generator for saveable contact details, or read an existing QR image.

URLs must not contain literal whitespace or embedded credentials. Text retains spaces and line breaks. The 1,500-byte limit counts UTF-8 bytes, so multilingual characters can use more than one byte. Dense content may need a larger PNG or a lower correction level; size checks are not a guarantee of scan success. Clear and examples have one Undo step. Editing content or settings removes stale downloads immediately. Optional regeneration waits 500 ms after editing. Content, settings and codes are not saved after leaving.

Choose readable colours

Use the colour pickers, enter three- or six-digit hex values, or try a preset. This tool requires dark squares, a lighter background and at least 4.5:1 relative-luminance contrast. That threshold is a product safeguard, not a QR scanning standard or a scan-success guarantee. Colours can reproduce differently on paper, screens and cameras. Keep the border intact and test the final output with your intended scanner.

Transparent backgrounds, gradients, logos and inverted light-on-dark designs are not offered here. Restore default colours keeps your content and has one Undo step. Clear content keeps your chosen settings. The calculation uses the W3C relative-luminance formula; border guidance follows DENSO WAVE QR sizing guidance.

Frequently asked questions

Which download format should I choose?

PNG is convenient for screens. SVG scales for printing without blurring.

Can I use Tamil or other languages?

Yes. Text is encoded as UTF-8. Scan-reader support for multilingual text can vary, so test your target device.

Where are my codes stored?

They remain in browser memory until you clear or leave the page. Downloads are saved to your device.
