Inspect your document

  1. Choose a PDF or try the sample.
  2. Review the standard properties and XMP properties. A notice identifies conflicting title, author or subject values.
  3. Search for a property or value, then copy or download the report. Decoded XMP is available separately when present.

Why can there be two titles?

A PDF can store properties in its information dictionary and in an XMP metadata stream. These may differ. The viewer keeps both sources visible rather than choosing one silently. Author and title fields describe what the file reports; they do not prove authorship.

Dates, flags and file identity

PDF date values are shown exactly as stored, with an interpretation where possible. Missing timezone or partial precision is retained; the tool does not invent a timezone. Metadata dates are editable and do not prove when a document was created.

SHA-256 identifies the bytes of the file you selected. It is useful for comparison, but does not establish authenticity. Form and signature flags are reader-reported document characteristics; this viewer does not validate digital signatures.

Privacy and limitations

The PDF and any supplied password stay in your browser. Reading does not rewrite or decrypt a downloadable copy. Passwords are cleared from the input after each attempt and are excluded from reports. Signed PDFs and forms can be inspected without modifying them.

Use one PDF up to 20 MiB and 1,000 pages. Reading has a 45-second deadline. Decoded XMP is limited to 1 MiB, properties to 200 per source and 2 MiB of combined property data. Invalid replacements retain the previous report. Cancel stops pending parsing; Clear hides the displayed report. Undo clear / replacement restores the previous report, search and expanded sections. Passwords are never included in recovery. Search affects only the visible properties; exports always contain the full report.

The report covers properties returned by the PDF reader. It is not an exhaustive forensic inventory of hidden objects, revisions, attachments or personal information. Decoded XMP can differ from the original encoded metadata bytes.
