Convert a duration quantity
- Enter a nonnegative decimal duration and its unit, or choose separate hours, minutes and seconds.
- Select a target duration unit and convert.
- Review the second equivalent and multiplier, then copy or download.
Fixed durations and examples
90 minutes = 1.5 hours = 5400 seconds. One day here is exactly 24 hours (86400 seconds), one week is seven such days and one fortnight is fourteen. One millisecond is 0.001 second.
Calculation is duration × source second factor ÷ target second factor. Minute, hour and day factors follow NIST’s time-unit definitions. This is a numeric duration conversion; for two clock readings use the time duration calculator, or use the timezone converter for a dated local time.

| Milliseconds (ms) | 0.001 |
| Seconds (s) | 1 |
| Minutes (min) | 60 |
| Hours (h) | 3600 |
| Days (24 hours) | 86400 |
| Weeks (7 days) | 604800 |

Limits and privacy
Nonnegative source values up to 10¹⁵. Months and years are excluded because calendar lengths vary. Nominal days/weeks here do not model daylight-saving transitions or leap seconds. No timestamps, date arithmetic, time zones or timer function. Structured entry accepts whole hours, whole minutes from 0 to 59, and seconds from 0 to less than 60. Its combined duration is limited to 10¹⁵ seconds. Decimal hours are decimal quantities: 1.5 hours means one hour thirty minutes.
Extremely tiny arithmetic underflow is rejected. Display uses up to 12 significant digits and six decimal places or scientific notation; CSV retains the floating-point calculation, with finite precision. Duration values stay in browser memory, with no requests, uploads or saved input. Live conversion waits 300 ms. The table and all-units CSV cover all nine supported duration units. Structured CSV preserves the original hours, minutes and seconds alongside their total seconds. Swap keeps the numeric value; result reuse retains the unrounded duration and reverses direction, returning structured entries to decimal mode. Those actions, examples and Reset offer one Undo step. Editing inputs discards that history. Reset clears output and restores 90 minutes to hours.
Why can’t I convert a month into seconds?
A calendar month can have different numbers of days. Choose actual dates in the date tools for a calendar span, or enter an explicitly assumed fixed duration here.
