Calculate your discount
- Enter the original price and the first percentage reduction.
- If your offer stacks discounts, expand the optional controls and add a second percentage reduction.
- Add a fixed coupon if applicable, then calculate. It applies after the percentages.
Formula and example
Price after percentages = original price × (1 − first discount ÷ 100) × (1 − second discount ÷ 100). Final price = that amount − fixed coupon. Savings = original price − final price. Effective discount = savings ÷ original price × 100%.
At original price 100, discounts of 20% and then 10% give 80 and then 72: a combined 28% reduction. A fixed coupon of 5 then gives price 67, savings 33 and an effective discount of 33%. Adding the percentage rates would overstate the reduction.
Microsoft’s percentage calculation examples explain reducing a value by a percentage. The sequential calculation here applies that same reduction twice; a store’s coupon policy may use a different order.
Assumptions and limits
This model applies the first percentage, then the second, then the fixed coupon. It does not verify promotion eligibility, stacking rules, minimum purchase, tax, shipping or retailer-specific rounding. Original price 0.01–1 trillion; percentages 0–100%; coupon 0–1 trillion and no greater than the discounted subtotal. A full discount can produce zero price; the calculator rejects coupons that would produce a negative price.
Privacy and rounding
Inputs remain in browser memory without uploads or saved prices. Currency display rounds for presentation; calculations keep floating-point precision without rounding each discount step. CSV uses six-decimal/scientific amounts and includes inputs, intermediate prices, final price and savings. Actual checkout prices may differ because of rounding and promotion rules. Reset restores a single illustrative discount and clears results. Undo last action recovers the previous inputs, currency search, optional-panel state and accepted result after Reset, an example or removing extra discounts. Editing an input discards that recovery step.
Do two 50% discounts make the item free?
No. The first halves the original price and the second halves what remains, leaving 25% of the original price: a 75% reduction.
Can I apply a coupon first?
This calculator applies the fixed coupon last. If your offer uses another order, its checkout result can differ.
