UUID generator

Generate random v4 or time-based v7 UUIDs privately in your browser. Copy a single ID or export up to 1,000 as text, JSON or CSV, with recoverable batches.

1 to 1,000 per batch

Generate one ID or a batch when ready.

Your UUIDs will appear here. No account, upload or automatic saving.

One ID or a ready-to-use batch

Keep the default V4 and count of 1 for a general-purpose random identifier. Increase the count for sample records, test fixtures or a list of IDs. Copy the complete output or choose a text, JSON or CSV download. Every UUID in the batch is shown; the output is never shortened.

Changing the version or count prepares your next generation while keeping your current batch available. Generate new batch replaces it and enables one Undo replacement. Clear is also reversible. Undo restores the previous identifiers together with their export format, case and wrapper. Changing those presentation choices keeps the same identifiers and retains Undo.

V4 and V7 serve different needs

V4 contains 122 random bits, plus its version and variant bits. V7 starts with a 48-bit Unix timestamp in milliseconds and uses 74 random bits. Both use the browser’s cryptographic random source, following RFC 9562.

This tool takes one device-clock timestamp for a V7 batch and sorts the batch lexically. It does not use a persistent counter or coordinate with another tab, device or generator. Batches created in the same millisecond may interleave, and a backward clock change can make a later batch sort earlier. V7 exposes the batch generation time; use V4 if you do not want a timestamp embedded.

Formats without changing identity

The standard representation has 36 characters in an 8-4-4-4-12 hexadecimal pattern, such as 00000000-0000-4000-8000-000000000000. That example illustrates the layout only. Uppercase, braces, compact text and a urn:uuid: prefix are presentation choices; check what your destination accepts. The URN prefix stays lowercase.

Text uses one ID per line with no trailing newline. JSON is an array of strings. CSV has one uuid header and quoted values with CRLF record endings. Download preserves those endings even when the browser editor displays LF.

Privacy and limits

Generation is local and bounded to 1,000 IDs per batch. Nothing is uploaded, logged or saved automatically, and IDs are generated only when you press the button. Download or copy before leaving the page. If secure randomness is unavailable or a duplicate is detected within a batch, generation fails without replacing your existing batch.

UUIDs are identifiers, not passwords, access tokens or an authorization check. Random generation makes collisions extremely unlikely but does not provide a mathematical guarantee of uniqueness across every system. This generator supports V4 and V7; deterministic namespace UUIDs and legacy versions are outside its scope.
